Choosing a Foundation that will Make You Look Younger

The quest for younger looking skin is a never ending journey. We enjoy our 20's with minimal problems, but by the time we are coming out the end of our 30's, we are worried about sagging eyes, lines and wrinkles around our temples and mouths, and beginning to see signs of aging in our skin itself. There is no reason to despair, however, because there are many non invasive solutions in the form of specially formulated cosmetics that work to mask the signs of aging, and sometimes even slow or stop the signs from showing up at all. Foundation

It is very important that you start a regime of moisturizer, eye cream, and exfoliators early to prevent and slow the development of lines and wrinkles. As you age, however, those signs will develop eventually, albeit more slowly and in a less pronounced manner than if you were using no product at all. Once this begins to occur, it is time to think about the foundation you are using and whether or not it is still the right choice for you and for your skin.

Hopefully, you have been using a product with a sunscreen in it, if not using a separate sunscreen under your foundation. We have learned a great deal over the years about the sun and the damage it can do to our skin. Warding off the sun's ultraviolet rays is an important step in preventing skin cancer and in warding off premature signs of aging. If you have not been using a sunscreen daily, this is now the time to find a foundation that has a sunscreen in it.

If you are not pleased with your current complexion, not only because of the appearance of lines and wrinkles, but also because your skin is beginning to take on a less lustrous look with age, try a foundation that is one shade lighter than what you usually use. Using a foundation that is slightly lighter than your skin tone will succeed in drawing attention away from the wrinkles in the corners of your eyes and at the edges of your lips. It will also give your face a youthful glow.

If you are truly self conscious about your pale complexion, do not choose to bask in the sun. You can get that sun kissed look with the help of a tinted moisturizer, sold according to skin tone, or a bronzer. Apply daily under your foundation for a natural look of being tan and fit.

Use only a very lightweight foundation. Remember that the purpose of your foundation is to lay a base for the rest of your makeup; it is not necessarily made to hide wrinkles and blemishes. In fact, heavily applied foundation will pool up in your wrinkles and emphasize them so that they are the first thing people see and not whatever feature you truly wish to accentuate. Also, you should avoid powder foundation because the powder will pill in the creases and lines on your face that you are trying to hide.
