What Human Growth Hormone Can Do To You!

Over the last few years, there has been much talk on human growth hormone and how it can delay the effects of aging. Human growth hormone or HGH has taken a lot of publicity with its perceived positive effects on aging individuals, particularly those who have problems with their physiques, endurance, mental accuracy and sexual drive. A number of research studies have supported various claims that HGH can do a lot of wonders to individuals who want to enjoy better physical and mental health.

A recent article published in the New York Times has cited numerous benefits of HGH particularly in repairing body injuries and ailments. The article also noted how HGH has become popular among athletes who have relied on this hormone enhancement to boost their physical performance, albeit the intake of this substance is considered illegal by most sports organizations.

Anti-aging

An article written by Gretchen Reynolds and which appeared on the August 20, 2008 issue of the New York Times enumerated several benefits of HGH, foremost of which is its anti-aging property. It cited a 2005 study that was published by the Journal of the American Medical Association indicating that HGH has been prescribed to thousands of individuals for its anti-aging qualities. HGH is purported to have been effective in restoring drooping physiques, decreasing endurance and libidos while curing mental disorders like depression. The study even reported that HGH has been given in many anti-aging clinics around the country.

According to the New York Times article, growth hormone is something that is abundant in a young person. Growth hormone is pumped out through the pituitary glands and helps to improve a person’s overall health specifically building more bones and muscles and stretching the skin collagen.

However, the body reduces production of growth hormone as it ages. The New York Times article cites that an estimated 1-2 percent drop in growth hormone is recorded every year which results to declining health manifested in decreased muscle mass, increased fat mass, thinning of the skin and weakening of the bones.

The reduction of HGH in the body can also result to a person becoming more injury prone. Growth hormone is critical in body repair as it helps the muscles and bones to repair themselves. With minimal growth hormone in the body, a person would have troubles in repairing body injuries. The NY Times article also revealed a recent survey conducted in hospitals where patients who took HGH for 16 weeks were able to recover quickly from their various injuries and illnesses.

Improving Athletic Performance

HGH has also been noted to help improve the body’s performance especially in athletic events. This has led many athletes to take HGH; although it should be noted that intake of HGH is considered illegal. In fact, the NY Times article noted that most professional sports associations in the US and the International Olympic Committee has banned the use of HGH among athletes.

While HGH is considered as an illegal substance for athletes, its reputation only cements claims that this is ideal for improving one’s physical and mental state. It is not surprising that many people are looking to take HGH to help them delay the signs of aging and become more youthful in the process.
