Is HGH a Steroid?

Everyone wants to be fit and healthy. But it's hard to know what is safe to take when there is so much contradictory information on the web. Some websites say HGH is a steroid, and lump it in with other steroids, and some say it isn't.
So: is HGH a steroid?

Technically, no, HGH is not a steroid. A steroid is a synthetic hormone that mimics the affects of androgens (male hormones) in the body. Synthetic HGH mimics the effects of HGH, which is not an androgen, but a hormone that is produced in large quantities in both sexes.

Although some of the benefits of HGH overlap with some of the benefits of steroids (such as an easier time maintaining muscle and a low body fat ratio, and a quicker recovery time after a workout) there are many benefits HGH has that steroids do not, like a younger appearance and improved sex drive and performance (steroids usually decrease the size of testicles and sperm count, and cause impotence rather than increased potence.)

The possible side effects of HGH are quite different from steroids, as well. So, don't be confused by conflicting information--HGH is not technically a steroid and it is wrong to write it off as one. Every supplement you are thinking of taking ought to be evaluated on its own merits.
