#19932 I was reading this article about how our bodies form connections between proteins as we age, and that this makes the proteins rigid and unusable. The article says this happens because of our metabolism, and that it cases aging and is worse in diabetics because of the exposure to sugar.
It was a little confusing--why does out metabolism create dangerous things that age and kill us? How can we stop them?

#20783 Our metabolisms are not perfectly efficient. Like a standard lightbulb that wastes a lot of the energy that goes into it by turning it into heat instead of light, our bodies have waste products. Whenever something good is achieved, like the turning of food into energy, there are parts are body can't use that become dangerous. Although our bodies are decent at filtering out this glop, we can't get rid of all of it and it builds up slowly over time, causing more and more damage.
