Anti-Aging Topical Skin Care

One of the most important keys to staying youthful is to take care of your skin.  Some people only begin to look after their skin in earnest when they are older.  However, it is better to start while you are fairly young, and to take long-term preventative action against skin deterioration, which tends to begin in the mid-twenties.  You may want to use moisturizers before bed, even if you do not see major signs of dryness and damage yet.  This is particularly important if you live in a cold climate, or spend much of your day in air-conditioned rooms.

Of course, be careful what sorts of skin products you use.  For example, many products that claim to seal in moisture are based on mineral oils.  The problem with these products is that they make it very difficult for your skin to breathe, and can be especially bad for people with hypertension.  Products based on natural oils, or at least products that sit lightly on the skin, are ultimately much safer.

Also, make sure to wear sunscreen, particularly during summer, or if you are outdoors in the two to three hours before and after noon.  Avoid excessive tanning.  Tans may be considered attractive, particularly in the West, but too much tanning can make your skin look older, and lead to skin cancer, as well. (It is no surprise, for example, that Australia, which has a population dominated by people of Caucasian descent and a culture that encourages a lot of outdoor activity in the hot sun, has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world.) Despite what popular fashions dictate, some people may want to reconsider their standards of beauty, particularly if they risk compromising their health.

Conversely, in some parts of the world, fairer skin is much more prized, which means that many people (usually women, but some men, as well) use skin whitening products like creams and soaps.  Papaya soap, for instance, is quite popular in Asia, as is a low-priced cream called Katinko.  These products can, while whitening skin, make it more fragile and sensitive to light, thus making it look older earlier.

Basically, the best advice is to make the best of the skin color you have, not to try to transform it in ways that may harm the health of your skin.

Face and body massages can also be a great way to maintain a youthful appearance.  Massages work to stimulate blood circulation, which means that more oxygen and nutrients will be steered towards your skin.  The effects may also go a little deeper, keeping facial muscles toned and reducing the appearance of cellulite elsewhere on the body.  Massages may be incorporated into facials, delivering a combination of beneficial treatments to your skin.  You may want to consider getting massage treatments about once a month.  Besides keeping your skin healthy, they can also help you get rid of stress, making for a more relaxed, youthful you.

If you can, you may also want to consult a dermatologist.  A skilled practitioner will be able to examine your skin, point out particular problem areas, and recommend appropriate products that are safe and effective, not just popular because of hype or the presence of exotic ingredients.

Anti-aging skin care may sound like a lot of work, but it is a regimen that you can spread out over a long period so it does not take a lot of time out of your daily routine.  The main point is regularity.  Retaining a youthful glow as you look older may be well worth the effort, not just for appearance’s sake, but also for your comfort and health.  Badly-maintained skin can sting and itch, and, as it gets older and drier, may also become prone to tearing.  In short, investing in your skin is more than worth it, even if you do not place a high premium on appearance.

  1. Are topical solutions a better way to restore the skin’s radiance? Can supplements containing the necessary nutrients and vitamins also help in maintaining a healthy-looking, supple skin?

  2. Which is more effective against wrinkles, crow’s feet and other aging signs? anti aging supplements, surgery, or topical creams? Among all these three, I choose to go for supplements because they hardly cause any discomfort. However, I had to be patient in seeing results. They do not come overnight.

  3. Skin care producst that offer miracle results are sometimes just too good to be true. There’s no way you can get an overnight result for simply applying this and that or taking this and that. You have to start with a healthy lifestyle and let the effects come forth when your body is no longer as young as it was. It is not wrong to use anti-aging products but it is ideal that you only depend on them. There are so many things that can affect the manner people age. You shoyld address all those factors to enjoy a healthier self all around. At this time and age, nothing is impossible. But what comes along with the advancements in technology are the possible risks that may hamper not just the way you look but can also be life-threatening if you do not handle them properly.
