Natural Anti Wrinkle Treatments

For the past several decades, anti aging surgical options such as face lifts have been becoming more and more popular among those who wish to have a more youthful appearance. A major trend has been the increasing willingness of men to avail of these operations. Another development is the promotion of derma fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Sculptra and Cymetra, which are supposedly less drastic than face or brow lifts. Of course, there is the chance for operations to go horribly wrong. As for the fillers, they have not been around long enough for us to know a great deal about what their long-term effects might be. Furthermore, to see how this supposedly less drastic option can go wrong (or be used wrongly), one need only take a good look at how actress Nicole Kidman’s lovely face has turned hard and masklike in recent years. Surely, there must be more natural, safe, and healthy treatments to keep skin looking young and wrinkle-free.

One possible option may be to get a sauna or steam treatment. Saunas may not appear to be directly connected to wrinkles, but the point of saunas or smaller-scale steam treatments is that they can moisturize and detoxify your skin. They can help get rid of deep-seated dirt, which you might otherwise have used harsh (and wrinkle-inducing) soaps and cleansers to target.

If you like, you can even have your own steam treatment at home. Boil the selected herb in water, then bring the water down to a simmer. Then pour the liquid into an appropriate bowl or pot. Wash your face, then lean over the liquid with a towel over your head to keep the steam in. Expose your face for five minutes, then rinse it with cold water. You may also want to splash on an astringent after a while to close your pores again. Of course, be careful not to burn or scald yourself by leaning in too close to the steam.

A variety of herbs exist that you can use according to whatever your skin needs might be. Lavender is good for dry skin. Calendula is good for sensitive skin, as is chamomile. Licorice root is one of the most versatile herbs for a steam treatment, and can be compatible with practically any type of skin. However, make sure to determine in advance that you are not allergic to the herb that you plan to use. Ask a doctor just in case. After all, even if you have eaten a particular herb in the past, that does not necessarily mean that you will not experience side effects if you use its steam on your face.

Sauna boxes can be bought for the home—though they are more appropriate for the body than the face. If you don’t mind the expense (and the accusations of extravagance), you might wish to emulate people like Finnish rock star Ville Valo and have your own sauna installed.

Another possible treatment is a face massage. Done well, the massage helps keep your facial muscles taut and toned. It also improves blood flow to the skin on your face, keeping the cells well supplied with oxygen and nutrients.

Of course, keep in mind that the best time to start using these treatments is when you are still relatively young. Natural treatments are best at preventing aging, instead of reversing serious damage that has already happened. Also, try pairing these treatments with healthy lifestyle choices that will help keep your skin (and the rest of you) youthful. Natural ways exist to keep your skin looking young, firm, and smooth. Consider them before trying more drastic and questionable methods that might leave your skin looking tight, but not much like skin at all.

  1. This is a really well-written article! It’s so true that you need to start your anti-aging regimen young, and keep it up as you age. There’s only so much you can do once your face looks like a road map! Keep up the good work here.

  2. A lot of things that we do today reflect on what we will be tomorrow. That’s why I choose to commit to healthy habits today with hope that I will stay healthy by tomorrow, even when my body functions due to aging starts to dwindle. I guess, the best way to tackle getting old is making the best preparation for it. Invest on good health and it will certainly pay forward. There are so many factors that are within your control. Eat right, exercise, sleep, reduce your stress, avoid alcohol and cigarettes, avoid the sun’s rays, and drink more water. They are easy to follow instructions towards good health. If you are able to embrace a healthy lifestyle early on, you will certainly not have any problems about moving like you are 20 when you are already 50.

  3. I think whichever way you go, you need to be patient with the results. There is no instant result to help alleviate the signs of aging. I am an anti-aging topical solution user. I waited for at least eight weeks of using the product regularly before I recognized any obvious difference. The good thing is that I never gave up. I was quite determined to be patient. The product had it in the label that you need to use the product regularly for best results.
