You need to keep tabs on the calories you eat for seven days. You can use a food journal to write down what you have eaten/drank every day. It’s important to be accurate. At the end of the seven days total up your calories and figure out the average. If you are eating more calories than you are burning, you are going to gain weight. If you are eating fewer calories than you are burning, you will lose weight, and if you are eating and burning equal calories, you’ll maintain your weight.

Exercise needs to be part of your weight loss program, but how much will depend on each person – it is very personal. On average, you should get 30 minutes 7 days a week. If you are a beginner to exercising start with just 3 days a week and increase as your body adapts.
