Link between Depleting HGH Levels and Aging

Aging – it’s something we all face, and something we all dread. In fact, if we are being honest, most of us long for the ‘fountain of youth elixir.’ Recent hgh and aging studies confirm there is a link between depleting HGH levels and aging.

A 1990 study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine published a small-scale study of human growth hormone (HGH). In a trial, researchers injected a dozen healthy men, age 61 to 81, with HGH for six months. The study showed remarkable results. The men reported a decrease of body fat, an increase in lean body mass, improved mood, an increase in elasticity of skin, and a positive increase in blood pressure and blood sugar. Organs like the heart and kidneys began to return to normal size. You see as we age our vital organs tend to shrink with age. The study appeared to point to human growth hormone as a miracle drug in fighting the effects of aging. It was even referred to as ‘the fountain of youth.’

This study became the jump off for other researchers who began to hypothesize all sorts of different ways that HGH could potentially aid the elderly. Patients recovering from broken hips or other types of surgery had the potential to heal faster with the use of human growth hormone. Patients who were bedridden could endure less muscle loss and wasting with the use of HGH, and the possibilities were really endless. When the results of the study were released via the media, there had been a lot of excitement among the health and nutrition communities.

Editors of the journal and researchers were quick to emphasize that a lot more research was necessary. After all, this study had been small and it didn’t include women. Even the men were only injected for six months so the long-term effects were unknown. The researchers also noted that although the organs returned to normal size the study did not test whether the participants were actually healthier because of it.

Sadly, many unethical advertisers were quick to their HGH supplements were the ‘magic bullet to eternal youth,” along with many other unfounded claims. As a result, The New England Journal of Medicine amended the article with an editorial statement that read: “Our understanding of growth hormone, its interrelations with other hormones, and its regulation of metabolism is considerable. Although its actions and benefits are fairly clear in children with growth hormone deficiency, they are not at all clear in adults” [source: Vance].

Additional HGH Studies on Aging

Today, there have been many more studies that have shown a direct link between the use of HGH and the reversing or halting of the aging process. And while many in the scientific community are still not willing to acknowledge that the human growth hormone has been proven to reduce many of the signs of aging, individuals are taking it upon themselves to interpret the studies and improve their health and well-being with HGH supplements.

For people over 40, human growth hormone therapy may be indicated. HGH raises IGF-1 levels leading to improved insulin sensitivity, loss of body fat, and increased lean body mass. HGH therapy is administered and monitored by an anti-aging specialist.

At the December 1996 Anti-Aging Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, I heard Dr. Bengt-Ake Bengtsson, one of the leading human growth hormone researchers in the world, discuss his landmark study of 333 patients with low levels of HGH. Dr. Bengtsson discovered that these patients were twice as likely to die from heart disease as the age-matched control group. Among patients treated with HGH replacement therapy, there was a uniform decrease in cardiovascular risk, as well as weight loss and a favourable increase in HDL and lower LDL blood fractions.

Dr. Daniel Rudman of the Medical College of Wisconsin gave a normal dose to elderly males 3 times a week for 6 months and returned muscle mass 10%, skin thickness increased 9%, body fat lowered 14%, and weight was added to the liver and spleen. What Does Human Growth Hormone do in relation to aging?

  • HGH heals connective tissue, muscle, and the skeletal system.
  • HGH improves cardiovascular health.
  • HGH offers a significant change in the body’s composition. Lean body mass increases, while fat decrease.
  • HGH improves the skin’s elasticity.
  • HGH can normalize blood pressure.
  • HGH improves immune function.
  • HGH improves memory and concentration.
  • HGH keeps the cells healthy and gives them the ability to repair themselves.
  • HGH energizes and gives you a zest for living.
  • HGH improves sexual performance.
  • HGH improves one’s sense of well-being.
  • HGH regenerates heart, kidneys, liver, and lung cells.
  • HGH improves your cholesterol.

All of these improvements are documented through a number of studies. As we age, we experience declines in all of these areas and by taking HGH supplements, you can reduce the signs of aging, and begin to look and feel younger. If you have a severe depletion of HGH, you should see your doctor, and have an open discussion about HGH injections.
